Choosing the right fabric isn’t just about looks — it’s about choosing something that will still look good in five years, not five months.
The Most Important Metric: Rub Count (Wyzenbeek)
Rub count measures how many double rubs a fabric can withstand before showing visible wear. For dining chairs, aim for at least 30,000 rubs. High-traffic family dining chairs benefit from 50,000–100,000+. Budget fabrics often test at 10,000–15,000 and will look tired within a couple of years.
